The Main House, said to have been a school cafeteria in Bandera, was moved to the ranch and is just over 1,700 square feet and boasts a spacious open living space beaming with natural light and accented with chandeliers many of which are from France or other parts of Europe. The living room is welcoming and spacious and offers many areas for entertaining and relaxing. The sitting area offers a calm retreat for visiting with friends, relaxing or a great area to curl up with a good book. The dining area just off the kitchen which itself is spacious and has unique features such as a handmade countertop with stone from the Medina River, an island that once was a general store counter, unique cabinetry, an antique gas stove/oven and a retro refrigerator. The master suite is spacious with room for an office area, a walk in closet and a lovely bath with a handmade floral pedestal sink and claw foot bathtub. The tin ceiling in the main home came from tin salvaged from a building in New York City. The hand painted walls are the work of famed artist and set designer Christine Blackledge of Comfort, TX. Outside the home is a hand built stone outdoor shower with tin tub which have a continuous supply of hot and cold water and offer a spa like feeling in the outdoors. The front and rear porches are excellent locations for greeting guests, morning coffee or hours of calming relaxation. One of the more interesting aspects of the home and the entire property itself is that one continues to find unique features and design accents as you visit and tour the property. It's a new peaceful adventure every day.
The Faris House was built in the late 1800's and is the original home on the ranch. The home was cut into the side of the hill protect from the north winds. The home offers living and bedroom space with stone fireplace, a kitchentte, full bath with claw foot tub and antique accents as well as a stone outdoor shower. The home has a welcoming front porch and small gated yard under a canopy of native pecan trees.
The Medina House was said to have once been a school room in Medina and was moved to the ranch and used as a hay barn until it was converted to a sewing room and then uniquely designed into its present use as a guest house. The full kitchen has antique counters and cupboards as well as antique gas stove/oven as well as antique pink refrigerator said to be one of the most photographed refrigerators in the world. The hand laid stone fireplace is the focal point of the home with living area, bedroom and full bath with claw foot tub and outdoor stone shower. Although the home is similar to the other it has a feeling all its own with its artistically hand painted walls and tin ceiling as well as front porch and fenced yard.
The three homes on the estate have all the modern conveniences including central heating and air as well as updated plumbing and electrical. The homes are also serviced by individual propane tanks for hot water and the gas stoves. High speed internet and telephone is also available.
Other improvements found throughout the property are several gazebos, uniquely designed chicken coups, a fenced and irrigated organic garden, RV shed, goat shed, workshops and storage buildings as well as uniquely designed walkways, a handmade floral and shell archway and a concrete vine archway and steps which lead up the slope to the main home from the amazing handmade stone dining table which is located under a canopy of live oaks and vintage lighting.
